  • Check if your registration data was uploaded.

    • Your institution must submit this to NSFAS by the cut-off date.

  • Monitor your MyNSFAS portal.

    • Log in regularly at www.nsfas.org.za to track payment status.

  • Update your banking or wallet details.

    • Ensure your payment method is correct (Bank or NSFAS Wallet for TVET).

  • Submit appeals or missing documents on time.

If you haven’t applied yet, it’s essential to complete your submission.

When to Expect Your UNISA Allowance

Unlike some universities with fixed monthly dates, UNISA allowance payments often depend on NSFAS disbursements and internal verification. Typically:

  • Learning Material Allowance is paid in March or April, once your registration is finalized.
  • Living and Travel Allowances are paid monthly from March until November (9 months in total).
  • Payments are usually processed by the 15th of each month, but delays sometimes push this to the third or fourth week.

For example, in 2025, many students received their first living allowance in the last week of March, with regular monthly payments following through to November.

Receiving your funding from time to time is important to your success and well-being as a student. Now that you are equipped with the 2025 payment schedule, you can confidently manage your academic year, manage your finances and avoid last-minute stress.

Remember: Your registration must be correct, your details updated, and your documents sent without delay. If you remain proactive, the NSFAS will do its part to keep it supported month after month.
